This is my daily journal of doing Medical Medium’s advanced 369 cleanse. I really didn’t want to do this cleanse when it came time to do it, but I’m happy I did it. The last one I did was early spring, and it was time. This is around cleanse #9 for me of these 369 cleanses. I’ve learned through my past cleanses that I don’t like to do a full cleanse in the colder months, so it was the perfect time to cleanse during this hot weather we have had.
This specific advanced 369 cleanse I did is an all raw cleanse found in the book Cleanse to Heal. I don’t recommend doing this version until you’ve done the original 369 cleanse at least once or you juice a lot (including celery), and already have a pretty healthy diet. I highly recommend reading a few of the Medical Medium books if you just want to start by eating healthier and clean up your diet first. It’s much easier doing a cleanse this way.
Cleansing is not fun, but I do it to detox an excess of heavy metals and toxins in my body that we are all exposed to every day, and to keep me feeling good.
UPDATE: 2022 Still read this daily journal post, however, I also did a more recent advanced cleanse and included a full long video of my cleanse. I highly recommend checking it out here.

Medical Medium’s Advanced 369 Cleanse
Day 1:
Besides dreaming about my turkey club (a really unhealthy one too) that I ate the day prior, it was an easy day. The only time it was a little rough was dinner. I had the leafy green nori rolls found in the Cleanse to Heal book for dinner. The bland roll somehow sounded good to me when it came time to eat.
I’ve realized on cleanses, I don’t care as much about food. By the time I’m hungry, I’m just happy to eat. Plus, I always think it’s 9 days. I can do 9 days. Anyways, as soon as I bit into my nori roll, I realized why I ended up throwing my last package of nori sheets in with smoothies to hide the taste more. They taste extra fishy to me and I really don’t like the taste. Regardless, I was hungry and ate 3 rolls. I just won’t repeat this dinner again.
A couple of hours after dinner I was hungry again, so I ate an apple with my chaga tea. I was really tired and skipped my 16 oz of lime/lemon water that I was supposed to have at night. This doesn’t mean I broke my cleanse by not drinking my water. Yes, it’s ideal if I would have drank it, but I’ve learned to not get worked up about doing anything like missing water or a tea here and there on these cleanses.
Day 2:
I woke up feeling good and not hungry which is great. I’m thankful I ate that apple before bedtime. I drank my 32 oz of lime water upon waking. Limes for me this round since I need a change from the usual lemon water I’ve been having. I waited 30 minutes and then followed with around 24 oz of celery juice. I drank both my lime water and celery juice slowly. If I have everything super fast, it’s going to be a long day. There is no feast ahead of me, so spreading everything out helps me get through the days easier.
Breakfast is always the heavy metal detox smoothie and lunch is always the liver rescue smoothie the first 8 days. I’ve eaten the cucumber spinach soup option for lunch during the cleanse before and that always left me hungry shortly after, so I always choose the liver rescue smoothie for lunch now. I had an apple for a snack between breakfast and a late lunch and then again two hours after dinner. (Code RIANE10 saves you $10 off of your first Wilderness Poets order – this is where I buy a large bag of dragon fruit powder. They have a lot of great items on their site too.)
I’m wishing I spent more money on the really good looking organic apples at Costco rather than the cheaper organic ones at Trader’s. When you are only eating so few things, an apple that calls to you more is worth the extra $. Dinner tonight was the cauliflower and greens bowl in the Cleanse to Heal Book. I ate the mixture scooped in larger lettuce leaves. This is probably my favorite option to eat for dinner on the cleanse. I finished the day with 16 oz lime water, one apple, and chaga tea. Bedtime was super early tonight. I’m pretty sure I was in bed by 8:30pm.
I thought about all the good meals I’m going to eat after the cleanse today. Somehow thinking of them and even looking at some recipes didn’t make it a harder day, it just made me excited for when the cleanse is over. I don’t go into a cleanse to break it, so it’s not even an option. My only real craving so far was my club sandwich.

Day 3:
I woke up feeling good today. I had my 32 oz of lime water, 24 oz of celery juice, and then a heavy metal detox smoothie. Right after the celery juice, I was hungry, so I had my smoothie exactly 30 minutes after the celery juice. I space the water, celery juice, and breakfast out by at least 30 minutes each. Today was pretty much exactly 30 minutes each. I had applesauce at 12:30pm for a snack and my liver rescue smoothie for lunch around 2:15pm. I don’t love the heavy metal detox smoothie, but the liver rescue smoothie tastes good to me, so I don’t mind it for lunch. So far at least…. it’s only day 3.

I became really tired after lunch, so I ended up taking a long nap. Cleansing can make you tired during the cleanse; it’s a detox symptom. Tiredness always hits at different days/times each time I do this, but it hit today. I am at home now so am able to nap, but I did this cleanse many times working a full day at work and not able to nap. It’s more than doable. You just push through it like anything else.
My husband finds it easier to be at work on the cleanse days than at home. Yes, there is juicing and meal prep in the mornings to make sure he has everything to stick to the cleanse while at work, but he’s busy with work and doesn’t have time to think about being on the cleanse. So there are pros and cons to working at a job vs being at home on the cleanse. I suggest the first time or two doing this to have day 9 land at home since it’s a ton of juicing and an all liquid day. My husband goes to work just fine that last day, but he’s done it many times now.
6:00pm dinner was the cauliflower and greens bowl on page 358 in the Cleanse to Heal Book. An apple, chaga tea, and 16 oz of lime water followed dinner at around 8:00pm. Bedtime was early again – around 9:00/9:30pm. I’m definitely tired earlier during this cleanse.
Side note that may help someone:
I have not been on daily caffeine in years. Yes, I have a regular coffee here and there and raw cacao once in awhile, but not enough for me to have withdrawal symptoms on this cleanse. I’ve had friends do this cleanse with me before though and they are regular coffee drinkers and it was really hard for them the first few days with lots of detox symptoms. If you are an avid coffee drinker and want to do a cleanse, try to minimize your coffee prior to your cleanse so you don’t get the bad headaches and emotional, agitated side effects.

Day 4 :
32 oz of lime water, 32 oz of celery juice (up from the 24 oz I had the last three days), and then the heavy metal detox smoothie for breakfast. I’m less hungry today than I was yesterday. Maybe I had more for dinner last night than the previous night or maybe my body is used to having less food. I can always have a bigger portion of any meal or apple snacks too. It’s just whether I do or not.
Feeling good today, much more energy than yesterday. I’ve done these cleanses many times now, and it’s not such a drastic shock to my system like the first few times I did these. I noticed bigger differences, up & downs & more trips to the bathroom during my first few cleanses. So if you are reading this as you are cleansing, you can never compare your cleanse to mine or anyone else’s. We all carry a different toxic load, have different bodies and eat differently outside of the cleanse.
Between breakfast and dinner on this cleanse I try to drink around 32 oz of water. Sometimes I throw lime in it, sometimes it’s just plain filtered water. I had an apple between breakfast and my late lunch today.
Dinner was Nori Rolls around 6:00pm. I know I said I was not going to repeat that meal after night one, but I ran out of big leafy lettuce, cauliflower and tomatoes and was working with what I had. It wasn’t the worst. Maybe because I went into it knowing it wouldn’t taste the best. Either way it filled me up. I also substituted the tomatoes in the recipe for 2 dates chopped up throughout two rolls. I know it was fine to use two dates since they are in two other dinner recipes that I am allowed. That’s how I knew they were cleanse safe for my dinner. Those dates make everything taste better thankfully.
I had 16 oz of lime water around 8:30pm and I skipped my chaga tea tonight. At around 9:30pm I felt hungry when I hopped into bed, so I got out of bed and had an apple. I don’t like to wake up hungry right away, so I’m happy I had the apple.

Day 5 –
Woohoo! Day 5! I feel like I’m getting somewhere. lol Woke up feeling good and not hungry thanks to my late night apple. I had my 32 oz of lime water around 8:00pm. About 45 minutes after I had 32 oz of celery juice over the course of 20 minutes. It just does not taste good to me lately, so I drink it slower and that does help. For me at least. I had the heavy metal detox smoothie for breakfast – again. That’s one thing with this cleanse. You never have to think about what you are going to eat. It’s the same breakfast, lunch, and snacks for 8 days with minor changes in dinner.
With that said, I deconstructed my liver rescue smoothie today. I’ve learned to get creative on these cleanses with what I am allowed. Instead of blending the wild blueberries, bananas, dragon fruit powder and water together, I separated them. I blended 2 frozen bananas to eat as “ice cream” and then blended the wild blueberries, dragon fruit and water together and had that right after. The banana ice cream made me so happy. It doesn’t take much to get me excited on these cleanses apparently. lol
Dinner was cauliflower lettuce wraps and I ate so much I didn’t need an apple tonight. I drank my chaga tea, but skipped my lime water tonight. Not worried about it. I still drank 32 of water during the day. Bedtime was at 10:00pm tonight.

Day 6:
It’s day 6! I’m feeling good. As much as I’m coming back here to write about my day and to post about my cleanse to Instagram, it’s not consuming my mind. I’m keeping my mind focused on other things and it’s really working. I don’t want to say each cleanse I do feels faster than the last, because that’s not always the case, but I feel like overall this cleanse is going fairly fast. It’s a mind thing for me. My mind thankfully is busy enough with other stuff this round.
I had my 32 oz of lime water, 32 oz celery juice, and the heavy metal detox smoothie during my morning. It’s now 12:40pm and I am feeling a smidge hungry. I try not to have my lunch until around 2:00/2:30pm to spread out meals, but today I’m hungry now and don’t want an apple, so I’ll be drinking my liver rescue smoothie shortly.
9:30pm – I had 32 oz of water during the day, an early dinner at 5:30pm of cauliflower lettuce wraps, an apple at 7:30pm, and my chaga tea and 16 oz of lime water around 8:45pm. I’m now thinking I can’t wait to be done with this cleanse, but I’m thinking the next two days will go fast for me. Day 9 never feels that bad since it’s the last day, so I just have to get through the next two.

Day 7:
I have to say this day really helped break up the cleanse. Today is Sunday and normally it would be a day my husband & I indulge in some delicious food. It’s harder on a weekend day to be on a cleanse since that’s when we normally go out and about more and it always includes food. Far from cleanse food. 😀 However, today instead of being at home, we had to go clean our cottage. It’s a 8.5 hour trip of driving there and back with cleaning in the middle, so it filled up our entire day. We didn’t have time to think about our cleanse. We did pass a Culver’s though and I said “I could go for some french fries” and my husband agreed, but thankfully we don’t have strong cravings.
It was an early morning for us to make sure we had all of our cleanse food and drinks packed in our cooler. Today is also a day where we each needed 32 oz of celery juice in the morning and another 32 oz again in the afternoon, so it was double the juicing. We packed everything we needed for the entire day on the cleanse except for our nighttime water and chaga tea. I had chaga tea and an apple before bed around 9:00pm. Bedtime has been early on this cleanse. We are just really tired by the end of the day. Our bodies need the extra rest.
Sidenote: As far as cravings, this cleanse provides a good balance between glucose and mineral salts as they are called. If I’m ever craving more sweets, it means I need more glucose (fruits, potatoes/squashes, raw honey, maple syrup, coconut water). If I’m craving salty food, it means I need more mineral salts (lettuce, sprouts, celery, cucumbers, lemons/limes). I’ve had much less cravings than I used to after cleaning up my diet more and more over the years. I make sure to eat plenty of both fruits and vegetables.

Day 8:
Yes! Day 8! I always feel like I made it once I get to day 8. Day 8 is the last day of drinking/eating how I have been. Day 9 is an all juice day along with being the last day so it usually goes fast from here for me. …usually. I did a slow yoga body flow this morning for 20 minutes and it left me feeling a little weak afterwards. I felt great again after my smoothie though. If I ever start feeling weak during a cleanse and it’s not meal time, I grab an apple. It does the trick. I felt hungry 2 hours after my breakfast smoothie today, so I had an apple.
My liver rescue smoothie for lunch actually tasted extra good today. I was over the gelatinous clumpy texture that blended wild blueberries get after sitting for a bit. This morning when I made our smoothies I added more water and it made such a difference- no chunks. Of course I don’t know how much water since I didn’t measure, but at least a full cup more. I’m so happy I did this on the dead last day of making these for the cleanse and not prior. That was a joke.
I noticed I’m extremely calm and my body is extra relaxed these past few days. It’s funny how subtle things happen during cleanses, but after a few days I realize it. I am also waking up extra rested and before the alarm clock goes off these past few days. I’m sure it also has to due with the fact that I am going to bed earlier.
We are supposed to have a second 32 oz celery juice in-between lunch and dinner. Somehow I miscounted celery and we only had enough for our first one. Not ideal, but we are still going to get it in late tonight after dinner when my husband comes home with more celery. I’ll make sure we drink it 30 minutes prior to our chaga tea. We’ll probably be getting up twice during the night to go to the bathroom with all the liquid we are consuming so late.
Dinner was another cauliflower greens bowl. It fills us up really well which is why it’s our go to, but I’ll be ready for new food on Wednesday. Day 9 is almost here!
8:30pm – Well, we are supposed to be getting in our 2nd 32 oz of celery juice yet tonight, but I am so exhausted and feeling a little weak with 0 energy at the moment. I am not hungry as I just had an apple along with chaga tea and water so I’m just going to crawl into bed early. Yet again, my body clearly wants the rest. I’ve never skipped a celery juice that I was suppose to have on a cleanse, but I guess today was the day. Not thrilled about it, but again, I am not going to get worked up about it.
Day 9:
WOHOO!! My favorite day! The last day! I woke up feeling great. I have energy and feel lighter, happy, calm, and more inspired. This morning I mediated, went for a small leisurely walk and got to juicing 8 bunches of celery, 4 cucumbers and 9 apples to make our juices for the day.
Today’s lineup is 32 oz of lime water, 32 oz of celery juice, 16 oz of cucumber apple juice (30 minutes after the celery juice, and some fresh squeezed OJ (that I bought from Whole Foods) 30 minutes after the cucumber apple juice. I still have another 32 oz of celery juice to drink early evening, another 16 oz of cucumber apple juice to drink whenever I feel like it, and the rest of my 64 oz container of fresh squeezed OJ.

2:20pm Still feeling good, I’ve drank a little OJ every 1-2 hours to keep me going so far.
4:45pm Felt a little out of it (light headed) shortly after 4:00pm so I’ve been very slowly drinking my second 32 oz celery juice. Within 20 minutes I already started feeling much better again. I’ll finish it shortly and then wait 30 minutes and then drink my cucumber apple juice to keep me going. I have a little less than half of my 64 oz of fresh squeezed OJ left so I think I’m doing good. I can have the rest of it spread out between 6:30ish and 8:30pm.
7:10pm Feeling a bit weak, but after a day of more cleansing and not eating solids that’s very normal. I still have 16 oz of OJ left so I will just sip on it here and there for the next hour or so. By then it will be water and chaga tea and I’ll head to bed early again by 9:00pm.
Even though I’m feeling a bit weak and tired now, I’m feeling good overall and am so happy I put this cleanse on the calendar to do.
I know it sounds crazy to be looking at food when I can’t have any, but I planned out some recipes and grocery lists today. It made me excited to start cooking more again. Something I have not wanted to do for a bit.
Although today is the last day of the cleanse, it’s best to ease back into foods tomorrow. I will be starting tomorrow with 32 oz of lime water, followed by 16 oz of celery juice at least 30 min later, followed by a heavy metal detox smoothie (sans cilantro since I’m out) 30 min after that. My body knows these things so it’s good to start out the morning this way since I just came off of liquids. I’m guessing I’ll want oatmeal shortly after my smoothie though since I’ll be extra hungry judging from my past cleanses.
The day after the cleanse I’m usually more tired. Even though I’ll still eat more simply, it will be the heaviest I have eaten in awhile. This takes digestion my body is not used to and digestion uses energy. It would be ideal if I stayed with smoothies and solid raw foods tomorrow, but I know I won’t. I’ll most likely be having the smoothie and then oatmeal for breakfast. After that I have cucumbers, tomatoes, and a half avocado that needs to get eaten. I’ll have that for lunch along with some oil free french fries most likely. I’m guessing I’ll have more potatoes with some raw spinach for dinner. I’ll try to keep it as simple as I can. Normally I avoid fats the first day after my cleanse, but I’m giving an exception to the avocado since it’s easy to digest.
Medical Medium’s Advanced 369 Cleanse
If you decide to do a cleanse, put it on the calendar during a time you are able to stick to it. It does take willpower to do and stick to a cleanse, so you want to set yourself up as best as you can. If you want to do one of the 369 cleanses, buy the book Cleanse to Heal by Medical Medium. Give yourself time to read it first, or at least a good majority of it. Pick a cleanse that you know your body can handle. Plan out your groceries and meals prior to jumping into it. If you are better prepared it will be much easier on you and you’ll stick to it.
Let me know if you have any questions. You can always message me on instagram @herhealthystyle while you are doing a cleanse and need some cheerleading.
I’m happy I did it, happy it’s over with, and I’ll be doing it again next spring/summer when it’s warm out.
