If you want to include chia seeds into your diet, but can’t get past the seeded texture, try grinding them down first before adding to a recipe. See if that does it for you. I prefer them whole to blended in chia pudding, but there are so many versions of chia pudding with different flavors/textures that it might be worth trying. I personally blend them down to add to my smoothies. They are just thicker without the seeded texture, more filling, and not a pain to clean the blender. Just make sure your small blender or coffee grinder is completely dry before grinding them. I store the jar of grinded chia seeds in my fridge. Changing my breakfast to a green smoothie years ago (in 2011 thanks to a book called The Beauty Detox Solution) had such a positive impact on me that I continued to make healthier changes little by little. To this day, even though I’m always changing up what I’m having, a green smoothie is in heavy rotation - especially on the days that I’m not having a salad. I pack a blender with around 75% greens and 25% fruit. Sometimes I add herbs with the greens when I have I those on hand too. I switch between the @earthboundfarm spinach and power greens mix. When I’m low on greens, I add in less, but then I make sure to add in green powders like spirulina and barley grass juice powder. For fruit, I always add bananas for sweetness and I often like one frozen element - so either frozen banana or another frozen fruit. Today was frozen mango. Banana, mango, ginger, and lime are a great combo with greens. After the 75/25 part, I add in whatever seeds and/or powders I’m feeling. Today I put in 2 TBSP of flaxseed for each of us, but I often add in Amla powder, barley grass juice powder, and spirulina powder too. Still Food Snaps & a Pup 🐶 Lots of frozen banana smoothies bowls of all kinds (tastes like dessert) various green smoothies - always changing up ingredients to get a variety of nutrients inpapaya on repeat with a half of lemon or lime squeezed in each sidedaily juices @herhealthyjuice @goodfoods guacamole - clean ingredients- I buy from Costco, but you can get elsewhere too @lundbergfarms organic brown rice cake with avocado, cayenne, sea salt, cayenne, & a squeeze of lemon - Microgreens are good on top too. You could do this same thing with your bread or toasted wrap of choice Quinoa, peas, tomatoes, avocado, lemon juice; thyme, dash of cayenne, sea salt & ground pepper Nourishing spicy coconut broth veggie soup with cayenne and ginger giving the kick. Stirred in cilantro and lemon and lime at the end. No recipe, just a nourishing pot of soup I made on a whim. I used @bonafideprovisions veggie broth and half water. Topping everything with micro-greens lately. Those little things are loaded with nutrition. I get a big pack at Costco for a deal. My brother made a delicious salmon meal with garlic & olive oil green beans and an arugula orange salad. I made a batch of beet hummus and mustard hummus yesterday to top on salads and Buddha bowls this week. Dark chocolate lover Some fun sparkly beverages I bought to have on hand to bring to parties. I bought @foxtrotmarket in Chicago. Sparking water with muddled herbs, fruit, and citrus is always a great clean and delicious go-to too. Current fridge view. My buddy for the week while his mom is on vacation. He lives in our building. We always get so excited to see each other so it’s fun to have him for a bit. Sometimes I add oil prior to baking roasted vegetables, but more than not I bake them without and toss it with oil and seasonings after. Oil spreads a lot further on warm veggies vs cold. I add roasted veggies on top of salads, buddha bowls, and sweet potatoes boats. I lightly roast and try not to overcook it so that there is still some crunch to it. Broccoli is not at the top of vegetables for Mark & I 😜, but when I add it to a mix of other flavors, we enjoy it and get the nutrient dense veggie in. I always buy extra bananas and freeze them when they get super ripe. They make smoothies & bowls so much creamier and more delicious. 2 frozen bananas, I slice and let sit out for a few minute prior to blending 1 cup mixed berries 1/3 cup plant milk or coconut water - I used almond milk today 1 tsp @animamundiherbals blue butterfly powder - Calms the nervous system and high in antioxidants I made one for mark with regular frozen blueberries - not wild - same everything else and it reminded him of blue moon ice cream when he was a kid. 🍦#healthylifestyle #healthyrecipes #recipeshare #recipeoftheday #healthyliving #smoothiebowlrecipe

I watched an Italian movie last Sunday and all I wanted was a Margherita pizza. After the movie, I started making pasta and mid-cooking it, I thought this is not what I want. I want an authentic Italian pizza. I’m lucky I live where I do and could place an order right then for a Neapolitan pizza from a place that imports their ingredients from Italy. The red sauce was incredible and everything I was dreaming of. The cheese tasted different to me, but that’s because my tastebuds have changed. All in all though, it was exactly what I wanted and needed to fill up my cup. Balance to me is finding a healthy way of eating that feels nourishing, abundant, and joyful. I feel my best when I eat how I do on the norm, but leave room to indulge and enjoy in pleasures that fill up my cup. These pleasures are a part of my healthy lifestyle, not separate from it. It’s not all or nothing. Giving ourselves flexibility & freedom - which will look different to us all & change through seasons - is beneficial for our soul. This in turn is beneficial for our body. We need to remember all aspects to really thrive - body, mind, and soul. That mushroom chickpea rice meal was brunch @bloompbk Always a repeat order for me. The rest of the food pics from the past week that I didn’t delete. I got what I think was food poisoning from a arugula salad - a 24 hr thing - and while it came and went, I still can’t look/think about salads, some vegetables, or sweet potatoes. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts as it’s all things I eat frequently - especially salads. The salad girl goes on salad strike. Ha. I sipped on 3 cucumber apple lemon juices with water for that initial day - no food - and yesterday I had cucumber apple cilantro ginger lemon juice, @cocojune_organic coconut yogurt with kiwi & raw honey, oatmeal and maple syrup, coconut water, and a small amt of quinoa brown rice mix. Today I’m feeling like some Tom Kha soup. We could order it in, but I think Mark is going to make us some. Running out of room. Nettle is a plant that has seemingly endless benef

Nettle is a plant that has seemingly endless benefits and has been used for thousands of years for a wide range of medicinal purposes. Just do a search and see for yourself. While I’m happy to get as many benefits from drinking it as possible, I’m mainly drinking it for the high amount of calcium and rich iron. One thing I’ve learned is that a cup of nettle tea that’s brewed for 10-15 minutes contains 5-10mg of calcium, whereas an overnight infusion of it contains 300-500 mg a cup depending on how long the infusion steeps for and how much tea you use. Either way, it contains a great amount of calcium. This is what I do: Add 4 TBSP @fromgreatorigins organic nettle leaf tea to a large 64 oz jar and pour over boiling water. Give it a little stir and put a glass plate over the jar to steep overnight. 12 hrs is great. By the time I’m actually drinking it, it’s more. Drain through a fine mesh strainer after the steep and it’s ready to go. I’m drinking 32 oz of room temp nettle during the day right now. I’m not saying you should drink this much, I’m just sharing what I do. Mark drinks the other half. 😊 Oh and it tastes like a hay-like green tea. Ha. I find it’s super mild tasting though when I drink it at room temp the next day. If you want me to send you a link to the tea I buy, just comment below.
