Why juice? What are the benefits of juicing? Yes, we need fiber; fiber is important which is why I eat a high fiber diet. However, juicing serves a different purpose. Also, while juicing removes insoluble fiber, it still contains soluble fiber (fiber that dissolves in water).
Why Juice? Benefits of Juicing
- We receive a greater concentration of nutrients and increase our absorption of these nutrients. By removing the insoluble fiber, it’s easier for our body to actually absorb all of the nutrients.
- While juicing removes insoluble fiber, it still retains soluble fiber (fiber that dissolves in water). This soluble fiber helps feed good gut bacteria.
- Increases our daily veggie/herb/green/fruit intake. When we include a diverse amount of ingredients, we have a more diverse microbiome and healthier gut.
- Helpful for those who are healing slower digestion. Some can’t stomach eating or even blending so many fruits and veggies.
- A great way to get in those veggies, herbs, or fruits we don’t normally like to eat. For example, maybe you don’t like eating pineapple, but know that the bromelain in it is great for digestion. Juicing it might make it more tolerable when you mix it with other ingredients. With time, you might actually enjoy eating pineapple as you get more used to juicing it. Or maybe pineapple really irritates your stomach when you eat it. You’ll probably find that it’s much more mild when you juice it.
- Juicing hydrates our body on a cellular level. You should feel much more hydrated with a daily juice.
- Alkalizes our body with green juices like celery juice. Celery Juice Benefits.
- Many juices are higher in potassium. Juicing helps increase our potassium which I’ve learned a high percentage of us Americans are low in. Low potassium levels release less insulin which leads to higher blood sugar and a higher chance for type 2 diabetes. Low potassium levels can also lead to constipation.
- Daily juicing promotes cleansing as it helps dig up and move around the gunk that’s been built up for years and continues to enter our bodies. Obviously this works best when paired with a healthy lifestyle.
- I think of juicing as a medicinal drink.
How Long Does A Cold-Pressed Juice Stay Fresh & Good For?
- Juice can stay fresh for up to 3 days in a sealed airtight glass container. Fill the juice to the top so that there is less oxidation. It might still be safe to drink after 3 days, but it’s nutrients, vitality, and taste are not the same.
- You will receive the the highest nutrient intake when you consume it right after juicing it. The nutrient content, vitality, and benefits slowly decrease with time.
My Juicing Journey
My health has greatly benefited from drinking a daily juice these past 6 years. I drank 16 oz of celery juice (sometimes 32 oz) every morning on an empty stomach for my first 4 years of juicing. It greatly helped heal my gut, made me feel more energized, more hydrated, and opened my eyes to the healing benefits of juicing. I now drink a rainbow of juices. I aim for 16 oz of daily juice in the morning, but I enjoy up to 32 oz when I have the extra produce. I started out with a small amount and worked my way up.
I use the Nama J2 Juicer & I highly recommend it. Code RIANE55 saves $55 off the Nama J2.
