Medical Medium’s Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie is a great smoothie to include into our smoothie rotation. We are all human and exposed to heavy metals on the daily. This smoothie helps detox those heavy metals from our bodies. An excess of heavy metals disrupts our hormones, our mood, causes brain fog, Alzheimer’s, anxiety, depression, ADHD, eczema and so much more. It’s crazy how much havoc heavy metals have on our bodies. The ingredients in this smoothie help detox this heavy metal overload.

Medical Medium’s Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 cups frozen wild blueberries 
  • 1 cup cilantro 
  • 1 TBSP Atlantic dulse 
  • juice from 1 orange with 1/2 -1 cup of water or 1 cup of orange juice (make sure it’s oranges only)
  • 1 tsp barley grass juice powder
  • 1 tsp spirulina 

Instructions

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender. If you want a thinner consistency, add up to 1 cup of filtered water or more fresh orange juice.

Riane’s Tidbits:

  • The 5 ingredients that help pull the heavy metals out are wild blueberries, cilantro, barley grass juice powder, spirulina powder, and Atlantic dulse. You can read about each ingredient here.
  • Include as many of these heavy metal busting ingredients as you can, but it’s ok if you don’t have everything all of the time. Many times I don’t have cilantro on hand. I’m still getting 4 other important ingredients in my smoothie.
  • If you don’t love the taste of cilantro, start with a small amount and see if you can handle that. If not, skip it all together and include everything else.
  • I often make this wild blueberry banana smoothie (my spin off of this smoothie) with ginger. It also doesn’t have cilantro in it though. Find a mix that works for you with as many of the 5 important ingredients as possible. I also add in frozen sweet cherries to the mix too.
  • If you have never had spirulina, barley grass juice powder, and Atlantic dulse before, you may want to start out with smaller amounts than the recipe calls for and work your way up. You could always start with one at a time until you don’t notice the taste, and then add in another one.
  • The orange juice helps cut through the Atlantic dulse salty taste a bit. I think the addition of ginger and frozen sweet cherries help too.

      Thank you for all of this useful information. How many days to I have to do the heavy metal detox to reap the benefits?

        Hi Angie, Thank you so much for reading and commenting! Every day that you include it you will be detoxing more heavy metals from your body which is great! It depends on how many heavy metals you have built up in your body already as to what changes you will feel. For me personally, I dealt with health issues for 2-3 years. I chose to drink it every day in the morning for breakfast for a year to really rid the heavy metal build up that I had. Now I still include it many days a week, but now that I feel great, it’s more maintenance of continually flushing out metals so that I never get to the place again where they are built up and I feel terrible. We all carry a different toxic load, so time on feeling better/getting better will differ with each of us. ❤

        Hello! There are so many gastric symptoms so I can’t tell you for sure or not, but either way it’s extremely beneficial to drink and will only help in the long run. You could always start with a small amount and work your way up too! I had really low stomach acid when I began drinking the smoothie and I didn’t have any problems with it.
        This smoothie for breakfast after daily morning celery juice on an empty stomach is a game changer. I highly recommend celery juice as well if it’s doable for you to help with any gastric issues. Just know both will be cleaning you out more. 🙂 Cheers to bettering our health! Xx Riane
