Grounding Oatmeal

There are so many versions of oatmeal, but this grounding oatmeal feels just that to me. Enjoy it for breakfast or anytime of day that you are looking for a comforting, nourishing bowl.

Grounding Oatmeal

Depending on my hunger level, I’ll double the oats/water.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup GF oats
  • 1 TBSP ground flaxseed
  • 2 TBSP walnuts, crushed/chopped
  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup, to taste
  • 1/4-1/3 tsp Ceylon cinnamon, start with 1/4 tsp – more to taste – Ceylon cinnamon in sweeter/less spicy than regular cinnamon. I like the taste and blood sugar benefits so I add it in wherever I can.

Method

  • Bring water to a boil in a small pot.
  • Stir in the oats and simmer on low to medium heat for 7 minutes or until cooked.
  • Stir in the flaxseed, maple syrup, Ceylon cinnamon, and walnuts. Enjoy!
