
There are so many versions of oatmeal, but this grounding oatmeal feels just that to me. Enjoy it for breakfast or anytime of day that you are looking for a comforting, nourishing bowl.
Grounding Oatmeal
Depending on my hunger level, I’ll double the oats/water.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup GF oats
- 1 TBSP ground flaxseed
- 2 TBSP walnuts, crushed/chopped
- 1-2 tsp maple syrup, to taste
- 1/4-1/3 tsp Ceylon cinnamon, start with 1/4 tsp – more to taste – Ceylon cinnamon in sweeter/less spicy than regular cinnamon. I like the taste and blood sugar benefits so I add it in wherever I can.
Method
- Bring water to a boil in a small pot.
- Stir in the oats and simmer on low to medium heat for 7 minutes or until cooked.
- Stir in the flaxseed, maple syrup, Ceylon cinnamon, and walnuts. Enjoy!
