10 things + Memorial Day Sales

10 things + Memorial Day Sales

Hi! Happy Memorial Day Weekend! It’s Mark’s birthday on Monday, so we are looking forward to a weekend of fun restaurants and being out and about in the city. We are still making a one day trip to Door County to clean our cottage between renters on Sunday, but we are putting some fun in the mix. We are getting up super early so we can make it in time to watch live music at one of the local breweries after we clean. Live music and a nice brewery are right up Mark’s alley. I’m looking forward to it all! Whatever you are up to, enjoy!

This week’s 10 random things:

  1. Ransom Canyon – Romance Netflix Series

If you’re having a cozy weekend at home and like romance flicks, check out Ransom Canyon on Netflix. I binge watched it when Mark was out of town recently; loved it. It has Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly in it.

  1. Decorative pillow tip.

If you are buying inserts for a decorative pillow and you want it to have a fuller look, size up one size. For example, I bought 26 x 26 inserts for 24 x 24 pillow covers to achieve fuller outdoor pillows. My inserts came super flat so I also put them (one at a time) in the dryer on medium heat for 10-15 minutes. This fluffs them up more.

  1. My favorite magnesium bath flakes are on sale.

This is high absorption, relaxing magnesium to soak in. I only use one extra large handful or two small handfuls to stretch out the flakes, but I still feel the results. If I was feeling under the weather or really sore, I would use more. It also helps soften the water so I don’t get as dry from my nightly super hot baths. No semi-warm baths for me.

  1. How I Eat Out.

I pick exactly what I want that day. What is going to bring me the most joy and fill up my cup for that meal. I make healthy choices at home so I can feel my best and then let go more when I’m outside my home. This is where that 90/10 or 80/20 comes in depending on health, season, whether we are on vacation, etc. I’m 80-90% focused on the nutrients and the rest I’m enjoying life’s experiences. If I want that glass of wine, I’m having it, etc. Generally I gravitate towards the cleaner ingredient choices since that’s what my tastebuds know and body craves, but sometimes there are healthier options than the ones I pick. If I feel a bit off afterwards or the day after, I am aware that I chose that and I’m good with that decision. I also bounce back extremely quick now since I have fueled my body with optimal nutrients for such a long time. I believe a healthy body can handle the inflammatory just fine sometimes. I use these lately when out to eat too.

  1. Order Eating. Alkaline first.

First off, fruits and vegetables are alkaline, enzyme rich foods. Alkaline is the opposite of acidic. Alcohol, soda, refined sugar, processed foods, dairy, and animal protein are acidic foods. I believe eating more alkaline promotes health, longevity, and anti-aging. Okay, I’ll get back to my point of order eating. Eating alkaline foods prior to enjoying heavier foods like pizza will help us digest that heavier food a lot better. Raw veggies/salad act as natural digestive enzymes. So when I order pizza this weekend, I’ll also order a salad. I’ll eat that salad first to get my digestive juices flowing. This will help my pizza digest that much easier (even when I order it GF or sourdough and dairy free). One place I’m going this weekend doesn’t have a salad I love and I’d rather not waste my money on one. However, they do have a fresh arugula pizza topping option, so I’ll get that to help with digestion. I don’t do this 100%, like anything, but I follow eating alkaline first more than not whether I’m at home or not.

  1. Green Pea & Avocado Herb dressing or dip.

A new recipe. Use for raw veggies, a fancier crudité platter, salads, potatoes, or however you wish! I paired it with a simple quinoa broccoli salad when I made it.

  1. Quick Vegan Cashew Alfredo Sauce

If you feel like something decadent for dinner this weekend, make this with some pasta and a salad. It’s so good!

  1. Chocolate Avocado Pudding

Makes a great dessert to pair with that pasta above.

  1. An Instagram re-share. I shared the following this week in a reel, but am re-sharing for those of you not on Insta. ☺

Have more fun; Make joy a priority.
Be unapologetically you.
Stay humble.
Be kind.
Our energy impacts others. Positive energy inspires & uplifts.
Let go of judgement.  Our life experiences are not the same, so we are not going to think & live the same.
Continue to learn and grow.
Don’t be afraid to make “mistakes”.  How will we know if we don’t try.
Stay present.  Stop and smell the roses.
“If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change”
Let go more.  Relax more.  Trust more.   The Universe, God, has better plans and timing in store for us.

  1. Memorial Day Sales:

  • OSEA Skin and Body Care- Up to 4 Free Gifts with purchase. ($48-$154 value) I’ve been faithful using their dry brush again more days than not. code herhealthystyle10 for 10% off – works on top of set savings too!
  • Apoterra – $10 off their hibiscus exfoliating face scrub. It’s a really lovely mix with raw honey. I have it in my bath.
  • HigherDose – 20% off my infrared sauna blanket and red light face mask – I use the red light face mask almost every day before I get out of bed and go in the sauna blanket around 3 times a week.
  • DIME – 30% off 7 Summers Perfume – a sweet, warm woodsy cream scent with a touch of vanilla lavender. I’m not a big perfume person, I’ve got enough scents on from all of my oils and lotions, but it’s a popular one in clean beauty if you’re looking for a summer perfume.
  • MATE – 30% off Sustainable cotton clothing company for leisurewear – think good sweats, sweatshirts, and sports bras. I caved and ordered another pair of sweatpants. I was daring and got the cream. I’m hoping I make it a good while before I stain them. Ha.
  • Beekeeper’s – 25% off sitewide. Probiotics, immune honey spray, throat drops, bee pollen.
  • Sunwarrior – 26% off sitewide. Mark really likes their protein powder, so I make a protein shake almost daily for a snack for him at work. I order both vanilla and unflavored for him. Read the ingredients to make sure it makes your cut.
  • Plant Therapy – Buy 2 get 1 free sitewide. My favorite SUPER affordable essential oil brand. I just shared a laundry reel using their lemon essential oil.
  • Koala Eco – All orders over $70 receive a free hand soap. I use a lot of their beautiful cleaning products, dish soap, glass spray, bathroom cleaner, floor cleaner, etc. They work and clean well.
  • Solara Sunscreen – 25% off my face SPF when I’m not using this RMS with SPF 30. I will say I did not like the solara sunscreen the first handful of times I used it. I just learned to apply it on a damp face, I often spray my face with rosewater first, and only use a small amount. It really makes your skin glow, so if you like a more matte face SPF, don’t get this. You can also save 15% off of it at the Detox Market and it’s free shipping at $50…..
  • Manicurist – I just talked about their green nail polish last week, it’s now 20% off
  • 30% off Rothy’s Shoes – 30% off washable bags & shoes made with recycled material. An amazing sustainable brand that keeps plastic bottles out of landfills by using them as their signature thread – they have lots of styles!
