My Holiday Home Style

November 12, 2021

My holiday home style changes from year to year. Some years I am feeling green and white, some red, gold, and silver, some a little Parisian, and others a little of everything in between. This year I felt like some color. Mainly because I really wanted to use my candy gum drop twigs that I’ve had for a few years and have not used. Good reason, right?! Ha. There was also a bag of colorful vintage ornaments that were calling my name. I hope you enjoy scrolling through my Holiday Home Style Tour and find some inspiration to add into your own home.

My husband and I walked a long ways in 90 degree heat to go back and get this vintage Santa and matching mugs from an antique store in Palm Springs. I think it was well worth it. The blue rhinestone eyes had me. The candy gum drop twigs I found at a shop in Door County. They remind me of the game Candyland which I loved as a little kid (and still love).

I should for warn you now. You may laugh when you scroll through and realize the extent of my “colorful” décor. I live in a 1 bedroom condo and I like to keep everything somewhat minimal so nothing is too distracting to the eye. It feels cleaner, calmer, and more spacious to me this way. So, it’s more a sprinkle of color here and there with focal points and little vignettes. I also debated on doing this post since my home does not feel completely decorated yet. There is just something about fresh garland on my mantel and more greens throughout that adds so much. That alone feels like the holidays to me and it’s something I look forward to each season. I usually buy it the Sunday going into Thanksgiving and it makes Thanksgiving week feel extra special and festive. I’ll just have to share it another time.

I’m not sure if the balcony will stay this way, but for now I added some plastic gold garland to my outdoor table. Pretty sure I got the garland from Target the first year we were married….which is 16 years ago.

This is where I am many days. It just never looks this clean. The vintage tree I picked up at an antique store, and the little gold deer I got from Home Goods.

Some years I put some tinsel around the deer’s neck. You could always add a little faux fur piece around a deer if you have one too. It’s all in the little touches.

I bought two new things for Christmas this year. The green tiny ornaments from a boutique in Ripon, Wi and that cute wool deer pillow that I scored at Home Goods. I was pretty excited about it. Still am. The sunny yellow pot is from CB2, the clear glass candle set up is from Crate and Barrel, and that’s a vintage ashtray that the ornaments are in. Hi, My name is Riane. I don’t smoke, but I have a stash of vintage ashtrays. They make the best décor! You can buy the selenite here on Amazon.

I bought these light aqua and sparkly gold trees at Maxwell’s in Door County during a January sale. It feels like they were made to sit next to the yellow pot.

Both trees are from Restoration Hardware years ago. I also hung some vintage ornaments on the silver tree to add a little color and fun.

That’s a record player book stacked on top. The cover felt wintery and cute so it turned into décor. The large white glow ball I bought on Amazon.

I put a clear glass dome over an ornament from Pottery Barn to make it feel a little more styled. It also reminds me a tad like a snow globe this way.

The palm tree got a mess of colorful lights. It’s somewhat tacky and I love that about it. They make me happy looking at them, especially at night.

A fun colorful bar adds a lot to our living room.

The tall leaning picture I picked up for $10 at an outdoor vintage market this year. The frame is so cool. I bought it for our cottage, but brought it home to replace the pictures. Well, now I don’t have to worry about it, since it’s found a spot on our bar. It matched the orange Christmas décor perfectly. The lamp is from Home Goods, the white vase from my mom’s basement stash, and the silver sprigs from a boutique.

These were the bag of vintage ornaments I wanted to use this year. Aren’t they pretty! The tray is vintage, the decanter is from Home Goods, and the glasses are from Crate and Barrel.

Just a few sparkly trees (really old from Home Goods) to give the dining table a little festive flair.

Our corner kitchen nook that will make me happy looking at it every single day.

These pottery barn reindeer mugs are both my husband and I’s favorite décor each year. They are just so happy and we both love the vintage look.

I did snap off a few greens from the trees when we were at our cottage, but not enough….. I put a few sprigs in the back of my hand scrub by the kitchen sink for a little something something.

This tree reminds me of a great vacation of ours. The best kind of décor; it has a good memory tied to it. It sits pretty on our kitchen shelves.

Our half-bath décor. Besides the silver soap dish, the rest is from boutiques in Door County.

Our bedroom gets the big skinny tree from grandinroad. The world’s skinniest tree, almost laughable, but it fits right in in our home. I’ll probably add a bit of real garland to our fake fireplace mantel. It’s what I asked my husband to build me for Christmas a few years back. Pretty much so I could add garland on it. I notice I didn’t have a tree “skirt” under this when I took this pic. Oh well. If you need a tree skirt and don’t want to buy one, use something you already have to wrap around the base. I’ve used different blankets and even a velvet dress before!

My husband’s bedside table gets a few bristle brush trees.

My 2021 Holiday Home Style: Delicate garland in a clear vase gives the master bathroom a little festive touch. The garland is actually broken and has a few glass balls that are cracked. Since it’s tied to a memory of a fun girl’s shopping trip, I couldn’t toss it. Putting it in a clear vase was the perfect solution and no one would ever know it’s broken in places.

And, a few more bristle brush trees for my closet.
