I’ve been enjoying this healthy homemade pumpkin spice creamer in my chicory/dandelion/burdock drink recently and it definitely gives all the cozy feels of the season. It’s a great swap for 99% of store-bought pumpkin creamers that are filled with poor, inflammatory ingredients. Malk is one brand I’ll buy and love, but it’s pricey. Making our own dairy-free milks and creamers saves some mula.
“Pumpkin is packed with antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E, beta-carotene, and zea-xanthin which can help prevent age-related macular disease. Pumpkin is also a rich source of B-vitamins such as folates, niacin, thiamin, and pantothenic acid and minerals like calcium, potassium, and phosphorus. It is an excellent food for aiding weight loss and for reducing cholesterol. The high amount of phytonutrients in pumpkin have been shown to help prevent the risk of cancers, particularly mouth, lung, and colon cancer. Pumpkin also contains several anti-aging benefits and the antioxidants help to keep skin wrinkle-free and radiating a healthy glow. It also contains immune-boosting properties which can help the body stay strong and ward off common colds and flus that may be going around. Pumpkin is excellent way to replenish and restore the body after a workout as it is high in potassium which helps to restore the body’s balance of electrolytes after exercise and keeps muscles functioning at their best.” Medical Medium
Healthy Pumpkin Spice Creamer
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (I use homemade)
- 1/3 cup organic canned pumpkin puree
- 1.5 TBSP maple syrup, more to taste
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon – If using regular cinnamon start with 1/2 since it’s more spicy. Ceylon is sweeter.
- 1 tsp pure vanilla
Method
- Add everything to a blender and blend for 2-3 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.
- Shake well before use each time. Add 2-3 TBSP to coffee alternatives, coffee, almond milk drinks, and whatever else floats your boat. Since we are using actual pumpkin and not fake pumpkin flavor, it’s going to get a bit thicker as it sits. You’ll need to stir it in your drink to mix it. ENJOY!
