Mark and I have been having this Banana Mango Protein Smoothie Bowl for lunch a few days a week lately. It kind of feels like dessert for lunch and it hits the spot on the hot days. We each have a slightly different version and I’ll share both below. Of course you can have this for any meal or snack you desire, but we’ve been doing extra green smoothies for breakfast and then this energy, carb, and healthy glucose packed bowl for lunch. When we eat enough fruit, we have more energy and don’t crave the refined sweets.
You do need a good high speed blender for this. I use a Vitamix and still need the tamper to help it along. You could also try making this in a food processor if you don’t have a high speed blender. Just be sure to pulse it instead of running it. Running it too long will turn it into a drinkable smoothie vs one you eat with a spoon.

Banana Mango Protein Smoothie Bowl
1 serving
Ingredients
Mark’s Bowl:
- 1 cup water – the protein powder needs more water
- 2 frozen bananas, slice to make it easier on blender
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 scoop Sunwarrior Vanilla Protein Powder – Tastes SO good in this bowl and makes it more filling. It is extra sweet and does have stevia in it so if you don’t care for that ingredient, but still want the additional protein and other beneficial ingredients, there is an unflavored one I buy as well. Pea protein powder makes me bloat a bit more, but I love the high amount of iron it has in it. Sometimes I’ll do this version as well.
My Bowl:
- start with 1/4 cup water or coconut water – add up to 1/2 cup if needed to blend
- 2 frozen bananas, slice to make it easier on blender or let sit for 5 minutes or so to make it easier
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 tsp vanilla powder or vanilla extract
- 2 TBSP hemp seeds – 10 grams of protein
Method
Add everything to a high speed blender. I use the tamper that comes with a Vitamix to help it along. Keep liquid to a minimum if you desire a super thick ice cream-like consistency. Blend until creamy. ENJOY!
Vitamix Recommendations: I currently have the 3500 with the 64 oz wide container (the design/appearance won me over with this model). I had the 5200 model with the narrow container (easier model to use in many ways) for 10 years prior to the motor finally dying out…. and my blender gets used to say the least. 🙂
