My Current Clean Hair Care Products
Even though my hair may be different than yours and what works for me may not work for you, I’ve got some good cleaner brands to lead you towards. I tend to rotate products myself (more so after my favorite True Botanicals set got discontinued), but these are my current clean hair care products with extra tidbits. Admittedly I’m in a trying phase and using up the last of several different products…normally I don’t have as many.
Act+Acre
I was seeing Act+Acre all over and finally decided to try it out for myself. I ordered the soft wave system for curly hair. It’s newer to me, but these are my thoughts so far:
The shampoo is nice and cleansing, but I don’t know if I’m using too much or what, but my hair is flatter than usual. I don’t know why I didn’t take the 2 minute scalp quiz on their site prior to ordering though – that’s my bad. It recommended their cold-press hair cleanse for my shampoo instead. Their restorative hair mask is really nice and leaves my hair feeling much softer. I don’t use the soft curl lotion often enough to give it a fair report, but I absolutely love the Act+Acre curl spray! I spray it on my damp hair prior to using my sea salt spray many times. That combo together works great for me. The only downside is that I am going through the bottle so quickly! Maybe I’ll start using less spray and try out the lotion more…
Act+Acre Dry Shampoo – Aerosol Free and Benzene Free (a rare thing for dry shampoos)- I almost didn’t get this since my dry hair rarely gets greasy, but I decided to grab it for summer. Besides the curl spray, it’s my favorite I’ve tried from Act+Acre so far. I would not hesitate to buy this one bit if you need a dry shampoo. I have to fluff out the whiteness a bit in my dark hair, but it leaves my scalp and roots feeling much cleaner when I don’t feel like washing it. My favorite part is that it adds volume!
Other Act+Acre Products You May Want To Check Out:
- Cold Processed Scalp Detox – I want to try this out too.
- Cold Processed Hair Cleanse – the shampoo I wish I ordered
- Scalp Relief System – If you are starting to shed more, bald, or just really thin out this is worth looking into. It’s one of their top sellers- their systems are known to help hair regrowth

Innersense
A really clean brand that has SO many products. I’m only mentioning a small amount compared to their plethora of hair care they offer.
- I Create Waves – My go-to sea salt spray to enhance my waves. I spray it on my hands first, apply it to my hair, and then braid it when it’s still slightly damp. I’ll also use as a hairspray to refresh curls, but I don’t do it often so I can stretch out my washes.
- Detox Hair Mask – My second favorite product I’ve tried from Innersense. When I have build-up on my scalp or just every few washes, I’ve been using the budget friendly tea tree shampoo below with this for conditioner. The detox hair mask makes my hair feel super healthy and I love the volume it gives me.
- Hydrating Cream Conditioner – Super Duper hydrating – Love it for hydration, but it does weigh my hair down a tad.
- Innersense I Create Lift – volumizing mouse – It’s meant to be used on damp hair, but I’ve been using it more on dry hair to refresh my waves. I just tip my hair upside down and scrunch in. It adds some good volume for a day.

Avalon Organics
I love this budget friendly brand. It’s a great one for men as well! I currently have the scalp treatment tea tree shampoo in my shower and rotate it in every few washes or so right now with the Act+Acre curl shampoo. It’s very good at removing build-up and makes my hair feel clean. I wish it had a more clarifying and invigorating tea tree scent, but it’s very mild. You may find this a positive thing depending on your scent preference. It’s a great brand to have in the shower for guests as well. The line has more great looking options that I have yet to try as well.
If you are looking for another affordable option, you might want to check out Zatik Naturals. I’ve been wanting to try their olive & black seed shampoo and conditioner in their line.
This Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner Set on Amazon is another one to look at as well.
Solar Recover
Save Your Hair Moisturizing Detangling Spray – I bought it for a detangling spray, but it felt too producty when I used a lot. I now just spray a little on my hands and then apply it to my hair to tame my frizz. It also makes my hair feel extra soft. It’s supposed to be great for sun damaged hair after repeat sun exposure as well. I don’t get enough beach/lake time to try that out, but maybe you do.
As for detangling, I cringed a bit when I bought this super cheap feeling plastic brush after using a wood one for so long, but it really does work better.
Jordan Seban
The Balm – A velvety balm that has been in my stash for years and I still love it. It’s a super light leave in conditioner that leaves hair so soft, shinier, tames frizz, does not weigh down hair, and is great to use prior to heat tools.
