Belt Bags, Sling Bags, + Fanny Packs made a huge comeback in 2020. I ditched my handbags right away in exchange for fanny packs or belt bags. Mostly because I didn’t want anything flashy or easy for someone to grab walking around Chicago (crime was up then), but also I didn’t need to carry that much anymore. I already had two Cotopaxi fanny’s prior to 2020 that I wore here and there and on trips so I was all set. I thought they were cool before they became “in,” so to many, I was out of style. Ha. In 2022, Lululemon came out with a belt bag that became super popular which converted many to finally trying out a glorified fanny pack or belt bag. Most fanny packs and belt bags are interchangeable. You can wear them either around your waste or crossways across your body.

Even though I really enjoy wearing my handbags again now, fanny packs – sling bags – belt bags – are still my biggest go-to walking around the city. Being hands-free is so convenient.
