A list of my go-to vitamins + supplements incase it’s helpful to you. This includes my daily supplements and others I rotate in as needed. From immune health, gut health, heart health, brain health, mood, energy, and period support, there is a supplement for all. Even with eating a healthy diet (which I still thing is #1 priority), I realize supplementation is needed to fill in the gaps. The state of today’s soil and everything we are up against in this modern world is night and day from what it was even 10 years ago.
While I do spend much more than I would like on supplements, I’ve realized I’m going to be paying for my health one way or another. I now try to be as proactive as possible and put buying supplements right up there with buying quality food.
Savings tidbit: I buy subscriptions on supplements I use often. If there is ever a sale, I’ll stock up to save that way too. I also take more supplements in the winter vs the summer, so naturally I spend more in the winter vs the summer.
I’ve changed up a good amount of my supplements more recently to others that seem to be working better for me. Always do you.
Remember to always do your own research or consult your health care provider if you have questions. Everything I take might not be right for you. I don’t take medications so don’t have to worry about any possible medication interactions.
My Daily Go-To Vitamins + Supplements
Daily Support:
- Probiotics. I rotate brands.
- Zuma Multi-Strain Probiotic Complex – Currently taking this one.
- Organic Olivia Flora-V – I like the potent amount of cranberry in it for a more balanced flora and reduced yeast in the gut.
- Global Healing Latero-Flora – for candida and yeast balance
- Beekeeper’s Probiotic – a good everyday probiotic.
- Pure Encapsulations Vitamin D3 and K2 – K2 helps increase the effects of D3 in our body and leads to stronger bones and better calcium absorption.
- Magnesium – Magnesium acts as a gentle cleanser, calms the body and the adrenals, improves sleep, improves aches, cramps, sore muscles, supports the brain and nervous system. I alternate types and take every night right before bed. I also take magnesium baths and rub this magnesium oil on my feet before bed sometimes (put socks on after).
- Magnesium Glycinate – This is the one I use the most. It contains a bit of ginger and turmeric as well. Glycinate is easily absorbed by the body and gentle on the stomach. I think of glycinate for relaxation, stress, sleep, pain, and gentle ongoing cleansing. Higher amounts of stress equals a weaker immune system. Magnesium helps with this. code RIANES5 for a little off at VImergy
- Magnesium Citrate – Is great for moving out more waste than glycinate. While still absorbed by the body, this type of magnesium generally moves through us a bit.
- Magnesium Oxy-Powder – A super powerful cleanser. I use this before bed on nights I eat out/order in/not as healthy or just feel I need some extra cleansing. It’s not a replacement for those above, but I’m including it here as it’s another type I rotate in.
- Zinc for immune support. I use this one daily, but I also use this BodyBio liquid zinc for a second dose in the evening when my immune system needs a boost
- BodyBio B+ – provides B vitamins for energy, brain, and immune support.
- Omega 3 for heart and brain health. Wild salmon, freshly ground flaxseed or freshly ground chia seed (I’ve learned pre-ground flaxseed and whole chia seeds in chia pudding compared to freshly ground down flaxseed and ground down chia seeds don’t deliver near as much Omega 3. There are still benefits which is why I enjoy whole seed chia pudding often, but when it comes to Omega 3 absorption it’s not as much). I’ve turned to Cold-Pressed Flax Oil and Cold-Pressed Chia Oil for getting in Omega 3’s extra easily more recently for this reason. I don’t cook with these but rather pour 1-2 TBSP a day on my lunch and/or dinner at serving time. I try to be conscious of getting an appropriate amount of Omega 3’s to Omega 6’s too. Many are getting a much higher amount of Omega 6 to Omega 3 due to the amount of nuts and other seeds that we are consuming in comparison to Omega 3’s. Walnuts, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, peanut butter, almonds, cashews, eggs, and even a lot of highly processed food that is in the SAD all contain a higher level of Omega 6. Having too much Omega 6 relative to Omega 3 creates inflammation in the body.
- Ashwaganda – adaptogen for balanced energy and resistance to stress
- Turmeric – amazing for keeping inflammation down, pain, joints, gut health
- Liposomal Vitamin C – for immune support
- L-Lysine – Something that our body does not produce, but we need to get through diet or supplementation. It supports collagen production, fat metabolism, and helps our bodies to fight against viruses and pathogens. May help with vertigo and brain fog as well. code RIANES5 for a little off at Vimergy
- Butyrate – a gut healing supplement – after having some Candida overgrowth again (I noticed a whiter tongue, had some eczema skin spots pop up on my legs, couldn’t handle the amount of fruit I was used to eating, and was grinding my teeth a bit more while I slept), I turned to some new gut healing supplements along with tweaking my diet. This supplement is one of them and I’m a big fan so far. Gut healing protocols: Complete Candida & Gut Reset Protocol and GI Health and Gut Lining Support Protocol
- Liposomal Glutathione – “the body’s most powerful antioxidant” helps with detoxing environmental toxins
- Iodine – for thyroid health and hormone balance.
- Selenium – for thyroid support and energy. Brazil nuts is another way to get Selenium in.
- Electrolytes & Minerals – to up hydration and replenish minerals. I’ve been using These in my 32oz jar of room temperature lemon water each morning, but I’ve just switched to using these Zuma Fulvic Acid & Trace Ocean Minerals. Liking them so far.
- Fatty15 – healthy aging supplement – helps replenish and strengthen cells – supports a healthy glucose and insulin response
Take As Needed Basis:
- Glutamine – to restore/improve gut lining
- Monolaurin – really great for gut and immune support
- Black Elderberry – for Immune Support
- Oil of Oregano – for short-term Gut and Immune Support. This has been a mainstay in my supplement stash for a long time. I take it daily for a period of time (1-2 weeks) when something is going around, but then I go back off of it. Oil of Oregano is antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, helps prevent and treat colds/flus/viral infections, improves respiratory issues, helps with ringworm, food poisoning (great to take before meals out), helps with ear infections and more. I first started taking it for support in getting my candida overgrowth in check. My overgrowth was so bad 10+ years ago though that I immediately felt sick from it. I stopped, worked on my gut, and then started taking it to help out when I was ready. Sharing this just incase you would have an adverse reaction….
- Propolis + Vitamin C Liposomal Delivery – I take this if traveling or when I feel something coming on. There is definitely something to the liposomal delivery and these packets. I’ve got a cabinet full of stuff, but feel these work extra quickly.
- Propolis Lozenges – for dry or sore throat, plane rides
- Propolis Tincture – has a whopping 1220 mg of propolis per serving. so great for the immune system or to help fight off something. I take this one fairly often. code RIANES5 for a little off
- Sovereign Silver Bio-Active Silver – I use it often during travel, when I’m around a lot of people, and in the winter months to simply boost my immunity. It’s great for sore throats, colds/viruses, infections, cuts, rashes, teeth, spraying on acne, ringworm, pink eye, and more. You can also use it as a hand sanitizer and spray the plane trays need be.
- Licorice – Amazing for gut health, oral health, respiratory health, shingles, Lyme, adrenal support, and so much more. Big fan of licorice even though I don’t love the taste. code RIANES5 for a little off
- Cats Claw – Great for inflammation and immune support. I think of cats claw, raw garlic, raw honey, and the goldenseal below as natural antibiotics. Even when my immune system feels strong, I rotate to continue combating all the bugs/etc. that I’m exposed to, especially during the winter. This is probably the one tincture I turn to most daily. I lay off a lot of this “take as needed” list come summer when I’m outside more, in the sun more, and less is going around. code RIANES5 for a little off at Vimergy
- Goldenseal – For immune support and digestive health. Super potent tincture for colds/flus/bugs. code RIANES5 for a little off
- Olive Leaf – Another amazing one one to shorten the duration of colds/flus, help with strep, respiratory, fight viruses and bacteria in the body. code RIANES5 for a little off
- Nettle – Great for allergies (seasonal and pets), urinary tract health, men’s prostate health, hair health, and more. code RIANES5 for a little off Drinking nettle tea often is another alternative.
- Celery Force – I reach for this on occasion. It gives me a boost in clarity and extra energy; it’s a “coffee” when I need it. code RIANES5 for a little off
- Kinderthoughts – an amazing saffron turmeric supplement with MCT oil – great for mood, gut, PMS, hormonal support, stress, anxiety, depression (many people are getting off anti-depressants with this! read the reviews), brain fog, ADHD, inflammation, headaches, and skin. I don’t take these often since their pricier and I don’t really need it to justify every day, but I still take a couple days before and during my period when I remember. Even with just a handful of days in a row, I notice a difference. I might turn to these more when I feel more hormonal shifts with perimenopause. I realize I’m getting close to that time.
Organic Olivia:
- For easier Periods, I take Liver Juice and Flow Balance daily. Sometimes I’ll just take flow balance the week before my period and during, but if just starting, I did both every day for a few months, and have a bottle of her Mood Juice in the cabinet when I need it too.
- Digestive Juice – I take a few squirts of these bitters before or after a meal as needed.
- Bloat BFF – Take as needed- generally out to eat
- Chest Comfort Syrup – Super potent mixture. Wild Cherry Bark, Osha Root, Thyme, Licorice, Peppermint, White Pine Bark, Ginger, Menthol crystals +more. I usually buy one bottle each winter.
Okay, I think I got them all? Ha
