How To Make Delicata Squash Fries

Have you ever made delicata squash fries? If not, you are in for a treat. Like a real addiction kind of treat. They taste somewhat like a sweeter potato chip when baked to the perfect crisp. A delicata squash is slightly less sweet than a butternut squash. With the addition of sea salt, it takes on it's own sweet & salty flavor once baked. A savory treat!

Ingredients

  • 1 delicata squash
  • 1 1/2 tsp of olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp of sea salt - more to taste
  • fresh ground pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450.
  • Wash the outside of the squash really well as you'll be eating the peel.
  • Cut off both ends of the squash.
  • Cut the squash lengthwise down the middle, scoop out the seeds, and cut into 1/4" slices.
  • Put the slices in a mixing bowl, drizzle on olive oil and sprinkle in salt & ground pepper. Mix it well with your hands.
  • Pour the slices out onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread them out so they are all flat.
  • Cook for about 25 minutes, flip over, and cook for about 15 more minutes until your desired crisp. Oven times vary though, so watch them closely towards the end.
