Magnesium Health Benefits

Magnesium is one of those supplements that I pretty much take everyday and I wanted to share why.
Magnesium Deficiency
Many of us our deficient in magnesium since our soil is not the same as it use to be. We are not getting all of the minerals and nutrients like generations before us and magnesium happens to be a big and important one.
Another reason is that we may be sick or have been sick in the past with an illness or gut issues, and we don’t absorb what we are putting into our bodies as well.
I did not know how much magnesium my body was lacking until I started supplementing with it more and could feel the difference. On the daily I’m taking it to feel more calm and relaxed as well as increase regularity which helps with bloating.
Magnesium Health Benefits – What is Magnesium good for?
- Gentle Cleanser – Increases regularity Without being TOO personal, a healthy diet has always kept me regular, but this just improves it. I notice it the most when I supplement with it before bed.
- Reduces Bloating – This is mostly due to the cleansing effects, but also because magnesium helps calms the adrenals which also helps with stress. We tend to bloat more when we are stressed.
- Calms the Body and the Adrenals – I don’t always notice this until I don’t take magnesium for a few days for some random reason. Once I take it again, I feel the calming effect it has on my body.
- Improves Sleep – I take a magnesium supplement right before bedtime as well as an Epsom salt bath many nights.
- Helps with Aches including Headaches, Pains, Sore Muscles, and Cramps– I increase my magnesium intake during the rare times I have any pain. I also take extra around my time of the month.
- Supports the Brain and Nervous System
- Supports Cardiovascular Function
My favorite Magnesium supplements and products?
I am just sharing what I use, but remember to do your own research.
Vimergy’s Magnesium Glycinate – The one I use the most. Ingredients: Magnesium Glycinate, Organic Ginger Root, Organic Turmeric, Capsules are made from cellulose, water, organic potato starch.
Epsom Salt from Amazon, and Epsom Salt from Whole Foods – You want to skip brands like Dr. Teals as although it may seem natural, there is fragrance (parfum) in it, not just pure essential oils. I look for pure Epsom salt with nothing else.
When my gut was a mess, I feel like I absorbed more magnesium through an Epsom salt bath than I did with capsules (even though I still took a supplement). An Epsom salt bath can really work wonders! I keep the salt bag right next to my bath so it’s easier to add. I was forgetting it too often when it was underneath my sink.
Kimberly Snyder’s Feel Good Detoxy 2.0 – Ingredients: Elemental Magnesium, L-ascorbate 2-phosphate magnesium- Ascorbic Acid, Non-GMO Rice Flour, Citric Acid, Vegetable Cellulose (capsule)
If you have followed me long enough, you know I try to avoid citric acid. I learned from Medical Medium that citric acid (which is often derived from corn) is very irritating to our stomach lining. When I was healing my gut for a few years, I chose to avoid this product. However since I have healed my gut, I rotate a bottle of this in here and there. I wish it didn’t have citric acid in it, but my husband and I both notice a major difference when we do take it. We take Vimergy’s Magnesium before bed (as well as in the morning), most nights, but on nights we eat heavier or not as healthy, we take this instead.

Depending on your body, taking too much magnesium right away may have you running to the bathroom. Whenever I start with a new supplement, I start with a low amount first.
