Loaded Up Protein Smoothie Recipe

Loaded Up Protein Smoothie Recipe

I’ve got a loaded up protein smoothie recipe to share with you today. I made this for Mark and I for lunch a few days this week. Although a smoothie doesn’t always hit the spot for lunch for me, it has on this 90 degree week. Needless to say, I made sure to have a frozen element in it. I also think it tastes better and has a better consistency with a frozen ingredient or two. A frozen banana will do, but lately I have frozen zucchini on hand, so I added in a handful to bulk it up even more. Zucchini is filled with fiber and water which helps us feel more full. You can’t taste the frozen zucchini in it so it won’t taste like you are drinking a vegetable if you choose to add it. If you don’t have either frozen ingredient, just add a handful of ice cubes.

This one does have that slight powdery protein shake taste, but since I’m using top quality ingredients and not your typical protein powder, I think it tastes great. If you want you to change up the flavor a bit, add in some frozen blueberries.

makes around 32 oz

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 handfuls of organic spinach
  • 1 frozen banana, I add 2 for Mark
  • optional, handful of frozen zucchini slices if you happen to have on hand
  • 5 ice cubes if you don’t have frozen banana or frozen zucchini
  • 1 Medjool date – if you want it sweeter add 2
  • 1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon, I fill my old simply organic jar with the bagged powder
  • 1/2 tsp Maca powder, adds a nice taste and provides energizing, mood boosting benefits
  • 1/2 tsp Reishi
  • 2 TBSP Flaxseeds
  • 1 TBSP Hemp Seeds
  • 2 TBSP Pumpkin Seed Protein Powder
  • optional, pinch of vanilla powder, I don’t add this, but if you want a more vanilla taste…
  • optional, 1/2 cup blueberries if you want to change the taste a bit or just want some beneficial blueberries

Method

Add everything to a high speed blender and blend well. Enjoy! Video of me making it below.
