
Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie is a great one to include into your diet to ensure you are getting plenty of greens. If you don’t enjoy eating lots of salads or raw fruits and vegetables, a smoothie is an easy way to get it all in. This GGS (as it’s called), actually got me on the smoothie train years ago. I read Kimberly Snyder’s first book, The Beauty Detox Solution, when it first came out and was introduced to this famous recipe. It became my weekly breakfast for years!
One of the reasons I enjoy this smoothie is that it is not super cold. I make plenty of smoothies with frozen fruit in them, so it’s nice to have this option when I don’t feel like a cold smoothie. This recipe is also fairly easy to keep stocked and does not have any unique ingredients you need to find. It’s also less expensive than the recipes including powders and such. I lived on a tight budget for awhile so this was a welcomed recipe when I needed it.
Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie Recipe
The recipe is good for one 32 oz large smoothie or two 16 oz smoothies. I drink the whole thing.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of filtered water (I use refrigerated filtered water to make the smoothie slightly cool)
- 1/2 head of romaine lettuce roughly chopped
- 3 cups of spinach ( I just do 3 good handfuls)
- 2 stalks of celery roughly chopped
- 1 apple, cored and roughly chopped
- 1 pear, cored and roughly chopped
- One banana
- 1/2 of a lemon – the peel cut off and seeded
- Optional – 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro or fresh parsley
Instructions
Add the water, romaine, and spinach to your high speed blender and blend until smooth. Add the celery, apple, and pear to the blender and blend again until smooth. Lastly, add in your banana and lemon and blend. ENJOY!
Riane’s Tidbits
If you don’t have all of the ingredients, let the recipe be a guide and experiment with what you do have! I don’t always have romaine and a pear. I’ll just use more spinach and throw in an extra apple! I also love adding ginger to this recipe.
