Some tips I’ve learned for food poisoning relief + prevention. I put this post up for me as well as you! When we don’t feel well, we can’t always think fast. This will always be here for us when we need it. If you are reading this when you are under the weather, I’m sending you feel-good wishes!
Many of the tips overlap with both prevention and relief, but I’m still going to list them separately.
Food Poisoning Prevention Tips:
- Order cooked food over raw. I still order plenty of salads and raw food when I’m out, but sometimes I know I’m walking a fine line & taking a risk depending on the place. If I’m taking a risk, I take an oil of oregano supplement prior to my meal (I keep them in my purse). Oregano oil is super potent in fighting off bacteria. If it’s a questionable place or I get a glimpse of an extra dirty kitchen, I order cooked food. Even though I eat cooked fish, I don’t eat raw fish in sushi anymore (I order avocado rolls). If I were to eat raw fish though, I would most definitely take an oil of oregano supplement.
- Take oil of oregano right before a meal out. It’s a potent supplement for fighting off bacteria.
- Add anti-bacterial foods to your meal when it works out and fits with the flavors. Raw onions, raw garlic, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, thyme, oregano, fresh lemon squeeze, raw honey. Cooked onions and garlic are still beneficial, but raw is most potent. Sea salt (not table salt) is beneficial as well.
- Drink teas like ginger tea, peppermint tea, raw honey/fresh lemon tea, turmeric tea, and thyme tea with and after your meal.
Food Poisoning Relief:
- Take an oil of oregano supplement. It’s potent so it’s best taken as close to food/with food as possible.
- Hot water with a good amount of raw honey, ginger, and fresh lemon. Raw honey and ginger work wonders for food poisoning! I always travel with honey sticks and ginger tea bags. You can generally find lemons anywhere. I continue to drink this until I feel better.
- Sip on lots of fresh lemon and/or ginger water. Lemons help with hydration and detoxification which is needed to flush out the toxins. KEEP HYDRATING. It will help it pass more quickly.
- Sip on lots of coconut water if you have access at the time.
- Drink other beneficial teas: peppermint tea, ginger tea, fresh/ground turmeric tea, fresh thyme tea, tulsi basil tea
- Swallow a raw crushed garlic clove daily. Pair with a spoonful of raw honey for added benefits. Garlic is antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal.
- We might not want to eat much when our stomach feels off, but bananas are high in potassium & fiber, easily digestible, and great for food poisoning.
- I’ve also heard a glass of ozonated water works really well, which makes complete sense. ..If by chance you have an ozone machine.
As always, I share what I believe and works for me, but always do you! Thank you so much for joining me here! Xx Riane
