The above products are my current natural, clean, non-toxic (all of that good stuff) sunscreen + suncare stash this summer. I’m well aware it looks a tad excessive, but I’m finishing up some products and trying out others. Also, everything in this stash works and I recommend them all. They all just serve a different purpose.
Clean Sunscreen + Suncare
Summer skin starts with exfoliated skin. While I take better care of my face on the norm, I’m not always as great with my body. Then summer hits and I get a lot better at exfoliating and moisturizing routinely. It makes our skin look healthier! While I dry brush routinely, I really like these super inexpensive green exfoliating mits to use in the shower. I use them once or twice a week and watch the dead skin peel off my arms and legs. They make my skin feel so much softer afterwards. (I threw these mits in the wash by themselves prior to using them and recommend you do the same if you get them. They will shrink, but they still work.)
Coconut oil is a great natural body moisturizer that also acts as a very very low natural SPF. I sometimes use it by itself, but often I’ll mix it with shea butter as well.
When going for a morning walk, I’ve been applying this Everybody Loves the Sunshine oil after washing my face. There is not any zinc in it, but it’s a golden tanning oil that is supposed to harmonize your skin with the sun’s rays and leave you with a subtle face tan. It does too! Living Libations oils are amazing for the skin in general and this one is no exception. I put on this one when I’m not wearing any makeup. If I go for an extra long walk or stay outside longer, than I’ve been putting on Cocokind’s SPF 32 face lotion. It always leaves my skin extra glowy too; that’s always nice. It also protects against blue light.
After I did a Q + A with Katey, a holistic esthetician, I was intrigued by the Guardian Angel’s Peptide Sunscreen Milk she used. I ended up getting it and loving it. At first glance it might seem pricey, but it’s skincare & sunscreen in one. I like the light “milky” application and the glow it gives. Makeup applies really great over it as well. I also grabbed the Solara Clean Freak sunscreen to apply on my hands during walks. Remembering to apply it is another story though… Although you have to rub it in like most mineral sunscreens to avoid the casper look, it does rub in and feels nice on the skin.
When I’m in the mood for a convenient spray, I’ll grab this Babo Sheer Zinc Spray. I get it for my husband since he likes it for his bald head and the overall easier body application. I end up using it too. It sprays on nicely and easily rubs in. Highly recommend this one.
Badger makes great mineral sunscreens for the body that is sold widespread for a good price. While it takes work to rub in, it works. My husband and I have put it to the test many times. It’s our go-to when we are in and out of water. It’s 4 or 5 simple ingredients depending on which you buy – the spf 40 (80 minute water resistant) or spf 30 (40 minute water resistant – possibly a tad easier to rub in). I have found that showering first and then applying it right after makes it a bit easier to rub in. I will say since the Babo spray rubs in so easily, I might try the Babo Clear Zinc Sunscreen SPF 30 lotion in place of the Badger lotion when my stash runs out.
This Everybody Love the Sunshine Zinc Beach Balm is just a great little stick for the forehead, cheeks, and shoulders on the go when they start to get a bit red. A good one to keep in the purse. It also comes in lotion form as well.
After a day in the sun, I like to apply this Solar Recover Save Your Skin all over, face included. It’s great at moisturizing the skin, soothing skin, and healing a sunburn. It smells like lavender. I also grabbed a tin of this Blue Tansy & Lavender Sun Balm for the summer. I’ve already dug in and used it on my hands a few times, but I’ll be applying it all over my body once I’m in the sun for a day. I’m hoping this weekend. 🙂
