We all need a little mood booster every now and again. Some days we instantly have it, and other days we need a little more help. Today I am sharing 7 ways to boost your mood. Well, I’m really sharing 7 ways that boost my mood, in hopes that it will boost yours too! These are in no particular order. Somedays I’m feeling one over another and other day’s I’ll do the majority of them.
7 Ways To Boost Your Mood:
- Deep clean the house.
You might be thinking, why the heck do I want to clean the house. I don’t know about you, but I feel so much better when I’m in a clean house. It just puts a pep in my step and I feel so much lighter. I feel more organized and feel like I can conquer a whole lot more when my house is cleaned. A clean house, a clearer mind. A cluttered house, a cluttered mind. Turn on some really good music while you are at it. Good music is actually on this list – double mood booster.
- Go outside in nature.
I mean, it’s pretty much on every feel-good article you’ll ever read. It seems so simple, but getting fresh air outside and being amongst nature is unmatched. Although I am pretty good at living in the present most days, when I feel off balance, nature knocks me right back in. I breathe better, feel a relaxed ease, and a clearer mind. Everything that seemed so important or terrible 5 minutes ago doesn’t seem so bad anymore. Try smiling while taking a big deep breath. I bet you’ll feel better.
- Call or visit with a friend.
Anytime I call one of my closest girlfriend’s, I notice how happy I am right after the phone call. I might have even felt good to begin with too. The phone call just made me even happier! Getting out whatever we need out, hearing from each other, boosting each other up, it all feels good. Next time you are feeling down or blah, call that good friend of yours.
- Exercise.
This may seem horrible if you hate working out. I never enjoyed working out either until I did short workouts and movements that made me feel good. Before I found my groove though, I always enjoyed walks outside. It’s still my favorite! Walking outside is some of the best exercise for you. There are plenty of studies on it, but I suggest you just feel it for yourself. Going outside for a walk hits both exercise and getting outside in nature in one. A double mood booster – go get those endorphins.
- Take a day trip.
Whether it’s the break away, new scenery, exploring, and/or getting inspired, taking a day trip always makes me happy. It helps change the perspective of things and resets my mind. Next time your time allows, plan a little day trip. Even if it’s just a road trip to walk around somewhere new.
- Turn on some feel-good music.
You know the kind that instantly lifts your spirits. If I’m in need of a little feel-good boost, sometimes I’ll crank up some really good music from my past. Good music from my past brings up those good memories I associate with it. Mood booster for sure.
- Buy yourself flowers.
You know I couldn’t write this post without including plants or flowers. Whether it’s a plant you like or fresh flowers, usually just looking at them will give you a happy feeling. Next time you need a boost, go buy yourself some flowers. Notice how your mood improves.
