In effort to put more simple recipes on the blog, it doesn’t get more simple than this 2 ingredient smoothie. Well, 3 if you count water. 🙂
While smoothies are a great way to load so much nutrition into one meal and I tend to throw a lot into mine, simple smoothies are great too!
This smoothie is simply greens and bananas. While fresh bananas will work, its frozen bananas that takes this smoothie to the next level. It’s creamier and sweeter in the best possible way.
This is a great smoothie for kids and adults. It’s an easy way to get a lot of raw greens in and the frozen bananas help hide the taste.

Benefits of Raw Leafy Greens Like Spinach, Romaine, Lettuce, Kale, Swiss Chard, Collard Greens:
“Raw leafy greens sweep the walls of the intestines, gently massaging your duodenum, small intestine, and colon, clearing away bad bacteria and rancid fats and proteins that have gone undigested for years. This build up is part of the reason someone can experience bloating or gastritis—and simply taking a probiotic isn’t going to fix it. Probiotics don’t kill bad bacteria. They don’t kill streptococcus or E.coli. A high quality probiotic definitely has a place in health, but they don’t do even a fraction of the healing work that elevated biotics do. The trace minerals found in leafy greens are prebiotics that feed good bacteria and kill off bad bacteria.” Medical Medium
Banana Health Benefits
“Bananas contain bioavailable protein, beneficial omegas, fiber, water, antioxidants, and healing phytochemicals such as potassium. High-potassium foods such as bananas are extremely helpful for many digestive system conditions. Potassium is helpful for nerve function in the digestive tract.” Medical Medium
“Bananas are also anti-pathogenic, and they’re an incredible prebiotic as well— meaning, for one, that at the same time they help destroy and eliminate unproductive bacteria in the gut by binding onto it, they feed beneficial microorganisms there.” Medical Medium
“Bananas are also an excellent “brain food” great for heavy thinkers and are known to help build strong muscles as well as strengthen the nervous system.” Medical Medium
“They are 76% water and are packed with vitamins such as vitamins C and B6 and minerals such as potassium, copper, and manganese. This high water/nutrient ratio makes them a great electrolyte food.” Medical Medium
What is a ripe banana?
Yellow bananas with light brown spots are ripe bananas. Ripe bananas are sweet and easy digesting.
Too many extra firm and greenish bananas can cause constipation. If it’s hard to peel, there is a good chance its not ripe enough to eat.
