Nighttime Essentials
If you have trouble sleeping, check out this sleep machine. I (& my husband) need it to a fault. So much so that I have one on my nightstand and one in the closet for traveling. I bought it after sleeping like a baby at my girlfriend’s house years ago and have been inseparable with it ever since. Not all machines are created equal. Trust me.
I turn mine on a few hours before bed. It makes the bedroom glow and gives off a beautiful warm light. The ambiance is so relaxing that I often don’t turn on a bedroom lamp unless I read. Pink Himalayan is known for some therapeutic properties. They do sweat in heat so I have mine on a cute vintage plate to catch any liquid in the summer.
A lip balm, lip repair or lip salve. As long as there is one in my bowl next time me, I’m good. I apply whatever it is right before I go to sleep. I am using this and this salve right now which I have shared before, so I thought I would share a different one here. Osmia makes lovely products. Their bar soaps are devine too.
A good body moisturizer is a must in my nightstand. I’ve been using coconut oil lately, which I love, but I’m about to buy this shea butter for these winter months.
Essential oils are so calming depending on the scent. Right now I am using the stress release rollerball (in this set) before bed. Just another one of those little rituals I enjoy when I’m not too exhausted to put it on. I also use a diffuser next to my nightstand, however, lately it’s been the rollerball.
- Gua Sha or Rollerball
When I do take the time to use my Gua Sha it is SO relaxing. Although I have not been doing it as often as I would like to, it’s definitely become a must in my nightstand. I just need to work on getting into bed a bit earlier so I do it more.
- De La Heart Lymphatic Body Massage Tool
After applying coconut oil, I grab this detoxifying tool from my second drawer. I use it on my leg and thigh area about twice a week. I can’t say I have noticed a difference but it’s just one of those things that if it’s doing something good for me, I’ll keep using it. It also just feels really good on sore muscles.
When I can’t fall asleep, I’ll turn to melatonin. If it’s because my mind is racing, which is usually when I can’t fall asleep, I’ll take a Gaba as well. It’s great for stress and calming running thoughts.
I go in and out of wearing one, but I’m not sure why I don’t put it on every night. Maybe because I don’t want to need one more thing for good sleep? However I feel like I sleep extra hard when it’s on.
For the rare nights I get to bed extra early and want to read. I’ve had the Jay Shetty book for too long for not having read it all. At this point I just need to start from the beginning. I HIGHLY recommend it though if you don’t have it already.
A journal for your thoughts. Write to yourself, write to someone you lost, or write what you are grateful for before going to bed. You could also write what you are grateful for first thing in the morning to set the tone for your day. I use my journal to write to my fur baby Bentley who passed last year. He was the center of my world for so long and I felt lost after he was gone. Journaling helped me so much right away, but I still write in it here and there.
Is there anything that I’m missing from this list that I need to know about?! Please share in the comments below. I’d love to hear what you find essential in your nightstand. xx Riane
