The beginning of a New Year usually includes a lot of cleanses, diet changes, and working out. While this is great (if done in a safe manner), it’s the habits we create and keep throughout the year that tend to make the biggest impact on our health. We can’t just do a cleanse and then we are good to go for a year. I wish! We are exposed to toxins on the daily basis from the food we eat, air we breathe, products in our home, what we put on our skin, and the overall toxic world we live in. Unfortunately we live in a more toxic world than the previous generations and have to work a bit harder to release toxins on an ongoing basis. Below I have listed 11 ways to detoxify your body in your day to day life.
11 Ways To Detoxify Your Body
- Drink plenty of hydrating fluids throughout the day.
If you are not drinking enough hydrating fluids, your body can’t properly move out the toxins through elimination. Lemon water is a great hydrating fluid that aids the body in flushing out toxins. I drink lemon water first thing every morning. Digestion improving green juices like celery juice, hydrating cucumber juices, ginger water, and fruit infused water are all great options as well.
- Eat plenty of fruit, especially berries – wild blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, and cranberries – and melons.
Fruit is the most cleansing food of all. Just remember to eat it on an empty stomach to avoid stomach issues as fruit digests quicker than anything else. Melon moves especially quick through the digestive system so it might be helpful to eat it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach by itself. I really feel things moving and flowing when I have lemon water, then celery juice, and then melon for breakfast.
- Eat organic leafy greens and vegetables like spinach, romaine, butter leaf, kale, asparagus, broccoli, and artichokes.
Water and fiber rich greens and vegetables are great detoxifying foods to incorporate into your daily diet.
- Dry brush your body.
Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system to move and drain out toxins from the body. It also helps break down cellulite. I use this dry brush more days than not.
- Get a lymphatic massage or use a lymphatic drainage tool.
Both a lymphatic massage (which sounds wonderful about now) and a lymphatic drainage tool stimulate the lymphatic system and help move and drain out toxins.
- Sweat it out in an infrared sauna.
An infrared sauna detoxifies the body through sweating along with having many other benefits. Thanks to this infrared sauna blanket, you don’t need to head to a spa, gym or have a large home to put one in. I think I prefer the blanket because my body can adjust to the heat as the blanket heats up. My head is out in fresh air unlike a regular infrared sauna. It doesn’t mean my head doesn’t sweat either; it sweats. I like using it an hour before my bath and bedtime. I also have a code for us. HERHEALTHYSTYLE15 gets you 15% off
- Drink detoxifying teas.
Dandelion root and burdock root are great detoxifying herbs that come in tea form, supplements or tinctures. I enjoy the taste of roasted dandelion root tea and drink it many nights before bed. I also make a dandelion chicory “coffee” sometimes. It’s not coffee, but the roasted, slightly bitter, slightly sweet taste does help when you are trying to limit your coffee.
- Get plenty of vitamin C.
Vitamin C is very helpful for moving toxins out of your body, both in food form and supplement.
- Rebounding.
Rebounding is great for the lymphatic system. It increases the flow of fluids which helps move out toxins. This is also why it’s important to stay hydrated so there are fluids to help move out the toxins. I have this one smack dab in the middle of my dining/living room. It might be an eye sore there, but the benefits are worth it to me. Other exercise like yoga also helps to stimulate the body’s natural detox process as well.
- Deep breathing.
By just taking deep inhales and exhales, we increase the oxygen in our body and release toxins. It sounds simple, but how many deep breaths do you really take? I’ve been working on this a lot in the past year. Breathing also happens to be free.
- Drink a heavy metal detox smoothie.
The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie includes wild blueberries, spirulina, barley grass juice powder, cilantro, and Atlantic dulse which are all ingredients that help detox out heavy metals from our body. This smoothie really helped me; I drank it for breakfast almost every day for one year. I don’t drink it often anymore, but I do make sure to incorporate the ingredients often enough.
How to Lower Your Toxic Exposure
Lowering your toxic exposure will make it easier to release more toxins on an ongoing basis. Maybe switch out your beauty products to cleaner brands, ditch or limit the toxic cleaners in your home, replace your candles for 100% beeswax candles, and start buying mostly organic produce and antibiotic-free, grass-fed meats if you eat meat. If it all feels overwhelming, just start with one thing and get that down, and then proceed to the next. It’s a journey, so don’t forget to celebrate all the healthy changes you make as you go!
Medical Medium’s 3:6:9 Liver Rescue Cleanse
If you do want to do an actual cleanse, you may want to check out the nine day 3:6:9 Medical Medium Cleanse. I did over 10 of them in the past and they really helped me out. I think it’s easier on your body and yourself though if you start by cleaning up your diet first and then do a cleanse. It’s hard enough to do a cleanse, let alone if you go into it unprepared. I also think you get a lot more out of the cleanse this way. You pick up habits to apply into your daily life. At least I have each time I’ve done one. You can find these cleanses in the Cleanse To Heal Book. I wrote a post on my last Advanced 3:6:9 Liver Rescue Cleanse. Note: I do know there are many ways to cleanse. I don’t think there is just one way to heal. This is just what I knew of at the time of my healing and it worked for me.
When you eliminate more toxins from your body, you create more energy for yourself!
